HI my traveling anchors,
Sorry for being MIA, but it has been a crazy past 2 weeks! It started with me getting the flu over the weekend before Columbus day. It was a horrible feeling being in bed for 2 days and then trying to heal for my mini vacation. After missing work for few days and then getting ready for my weekend cruise with my family to celebrate October birthdays, I feel like the days flew by! Now I am back and ready to give you all the 411 on my cruise.
My family has a lot of birthdays in October, in fact they say October babies come from Valentine’s day or New Year’s celebrations! Do the math, it all adds up! lol. My family and I booked a 3 day weekend cruise to celebrate and spend time together. Sadly my Hubby nor my brother could attend the cruise and their birthdays were over the weekend, but I did enough celebrating on board for them. =) Being my first trip without my husband, this gave me plenty of time catch up with 1 of my close cousins Khiara. She was my weekend roommate and we had a blast! It was a total of 10 of us and we had 2 birthdays’ on board, my cousin Richard and Edwin. The drinks were unlimited and of course we did too much drinking, not enough sleeping, but we had no regrets. I think most of us are still recuperating from the cruise a few days later, I know I am.
Our cruise was with Royal Caribbean Enchantment of the seas ship. It sailed out of Miami , Fl and had two ports of call. The first port was on Saturday to Coco Cay, Bahamas which is Royal Caribbean’s Private island. On Coco Cay there is not a dock for the cruise ship so we had to tender from the ship. The Island is very nicely set up with beach chairs, umbrellas for rent and a few nice beaches to dip your toes in. On the island the ship hosts a complimentary BBQ for cruisers which was really delicious. During our trip we did encounter some rain on Coco Cay but that did not have us rushing back to the ship. We actually enjoyed the beach to ourselves since mostly everyone went back on board when it started raining. I personally fell asleep on the lounge chair as some family members talked, joked or ate some more. 4 pm came and it was time to take a tender boat back to the ship, for more food and drinks. At dinner we celebrated the two birthdays with cake and champagne, what a great combination! Told you drinks never stopped! lol
On Sunday our ship docked in Nassau, Bahamas and it was pouring the entire day. My family had already visited Nassau during my wedding cruise back in January 2016, so we all decided to stay on board and relax. Some of us napped all day, some relaxed by the pool and others took advantage of the cruise activities. Overall staying on board was the best decision not just because the weather was crappy but because we were able to do enjoy the actual cruise ship.
3 days might be short for some, but for the occasion it was perfect. We already booked a European cruise as a family for 2017 and we cannot wait!
Happy Cruising!
XOXO,
PF
